Wow.
Apparently it’s been a year of public writing for this gal, and let me tell ya – that’s been quite an unexpected turn of events.
Starting my first Slice of Life challenge last March was a total leap out of my comfort zone. Sure, I wrote from time to time. Sure, I enjoyed reading other people’s writing when it crossed my inbox. But living a DAILY writerly life? Nope. Living a daily PUBLIC writerly life? Double nope. That was definitely not something I associated myself with.
And yet… here we are!
I made it through 95% of my first SOL challenge (I missed the east coast deadline once or twice last March), I have kept up with my “slicing” almost every Tuesday since then, and today is the first day of the #sol19 challenge.
What can I say?
I’m in.
It looks like I’m a writer.
Happy slicing!
Good for you! I always love SOL in March, but then haven’t quite had the gumption to commit to every Tuesday after that. Maybe this will be the year I do. Way to set a good example.

Aww, thank you! I certainly wasn’t a perfect example but it was fun to see how I could keep it up on most Tuesdays. ❤️

I LOVE that realization that you’re a writer! I feel like so many of us can relate to that notion, that “No, I’m not. No, I’m not.” and then suddenly, we are! 🙂
I also appreciate your use of “writerly life”. I might borrow that in my own future writing.
So glad you’re here. 🙂

Oh, thank you! I’m so happy to be sharing this space with other talented and motivated writers like yourself. ‘Cause you’re right – it sneaks up on us but that’s what we are! ❤️

There is definitely something about this community of writers that is magnetic! This is my 4th year slicing. I was certainly not as disciplined as you were continuing to slice on Tuesdays. I cannot understand how I can do 31 days in a row and then can’t manage once a week!?!

Seriously!!! Sometimes those missed Tuesdays would flash by and I’d be totally shocked. Happy to be joining you this year!!

You’ve really kept at it! That’s wonderful. This is my first time, and I’m excited. I feel like I need that structure of being committed to write every day. It sounds like it really worked for you.

Oh, welcome!! It’s quite the challenge but it’s also really super fun. I’m a big fan of the oh-crap-I-have-to-pull-something-together-before-the-deadline kind of writing. Haikus are my favorite last minute ass-saver. ❤️

You gotta have the oh-crap last minute ass-savers. That is what I realized last year. Haikus are good. Lists are good. Any other ideas for this?

Kids’ words are always good for a giggle. Let them speak for you! Or questions. Questions are good to clear your head and spark some conversations.

Questions…that’s a good idea.
