It doesn’t have to be perfect (#sol25 Day 6/31)

Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer is a poet. She is a prolific and profoundly poignant poet who shares from her soul and illuminates the pauses that float in between the beats of life. Perhaps you are also a fan?

I went to see her a few months ago and was desperately wishing that I’d brought my notebook to capture her snippets and phrases of wisdom. (I managed to jot a few quotes down on my phone but it just wasn’t the right medium for the task. It felt jarring and rude to light up the space with my screen in order to capture words that instantly fit deep down within.)

One of the things she discussed was what it’s like to write and publish every single day. (Sound familiar?!) She sends out a daily morning newsletter with a poem, which makes this month-long writing goal feel like a step in the right direction. When asked about the daily pressure to publish her very personal and broken-open reality with other people, she replied that she didn’t have to write and publish something perfect every day – just something true.

I love that.

They don’t all have to be perfect but they do all have to be true.

Doesn’t that feel like an open door? Like permission? Like an invitation to share yourself as you are?

It doesn’t have to be perfect. It just has to be true.

Onwards. See ya tomorrow! 📝
