My home morning was cozy bed and lavender latté and hair in a messy bun and favorite comfy clothing and sibling birthday razzing.
My school morning was teaching partner love and more surprise donuts and kid snuggles and parent check-ins and Dr. Seuss books and surprisingly neat handwriting.
My home early afternoon was… ha! Yeah that was obviously nonexistent.
My school early afternoon was “Kristina, I want to improve my reading over break so can I take home harder books?” and repeated behavior management reminders and slippery sneakers on ice and class read alouds and empathy discussions and delightfully unexpected kid snuggles.
My home late afternoon was just wishful thinking.
My school late afternoon was parent meetings with hope and connection and teamwork, and other meetings with confusion and dismay and disconnect, and more parent meetings with clarity and growth and questions and gratitude, and team meetings with vulnerability and support and acknowledgement and love.
My home evening is instant climbing back into cozy bed and Stick Figure playlists and family texts and fresh cool air on my face through the open window.
My school evening is not welcome here in my cozy nest and needs to exit my brain right now.
