My first etheree poem (#sol24 Day 3/31)

A

day like

today with

swirling, blowing

snow squalls so strong that

sitting down on the trail

is the best way to create

a safe place for you to decide

if you’re skiing or stationary

is the best kind of day to ski with friends.

❄️

(Thanks to Christie over at Wondering and Wandering for the introduction to this fun poetic structure. Line one has one syllable. Line two has two. Line three? You guessed it. Three. Continue to line ten and you’ve got your poem! Or you could reverse it and start from ten syllables if that suits your fancy. Maybe I’ll save that structure for another slicing day… 🤔)

  2. Thanks so much for sharing! I love the pyramid effect it had on your poem. I think this would be fun to try on my own and in the classroom!

  3. I love the etheree form and shaded it w/ my poetry group when it was my turn to host a couple years ago. Your poem expresses the skiing ethos beautifully. Fantastic photos, too. We had 10” of snow yesterday and almost 3” more today. Our local ski area is going to have an extended season.
