Tuesday acrostic whining (#sol25 Day 11/31)

Today was another long one, draining teacher reserves with redirects and behavior management regulation beyond what was available and already stored up.

Updating my working memory beyond holding just a scant few items when the energy draw is this extreme feels impossible.

Every day I am eternally grateful for my teaching partners, as well as the other staff members who give parts of their planning times to come in and support these first grade classroom behaviors.

Springtime often brings out the wiggles and the wilds, which we know to be true and normal and expected but here we are, desperately seeking signs of maturity and tiny inklings of self-control.

Does this feel sustainable?

A shift in expectations is a suggested strategy… just add it to the pile of shift after shift after shit shift.

Yes, we will be okay. Yes, it’s frustrating and draining and demoralizing to go through these swings day after day after day. Yes, we have seen improvement from the beginning of the year. Yes, they’re making progress. Yes, we’re beyond exhausted and sick (both with germs and OF IT). Yes, tomorrow’s a brand new day.

Okay. Whining over.

  1. Yes we love acrostic poems, even when they are about terrible behaviors!

    Especially when you write so beautifully!

    So hoping today will bring about the shift!
