Oh, look.
It’s March 31st.
My seventh year (🤯) of participating in this inspiring Slice of Life challenge and I’ve managed to write and post just about every day this month.
Big thank yous to the leaders over at Two Writing Teachers for shepherding us through this month, to the other participants for showing up and sharing and supporting us all, and to YOU for spending your March screen moments reading these little snippets of daily life. It’s way more fun to write to an actual audience!
Once again, I am reminded of the importance of feeling vulnerable and open to others’ reading eyes. If I’m asking my first and second graders to go through this process, then I’d better be ready to experience it myself. Yes, that’s the reason I started doing this challenge but it’s not my sole reason for continuing.
Not sure how I’ve been doing this for seven years but I’m already motivated to join year number eight and soak up even more inspiration and literary lights.
Happy writing!

Year four in the books for me. It was more difficult this year. I don’t know why. I wish I had found this when I was still a classroom teacher. However, I’m working on a plan to get some students to participate in the classroom challenge next year. Well done!

The reason I started this challenge was to experience writing for an audience like my 2nd graders. I’m so glad I did and just finished my 5th SOLC. Congratulations!

What a fun beginning! That’s the way I feel–what? March 31st already? I mean, I feel like I’ve been doing this slice of life thing forever, but still …..
Congratulations on making it through year 7! What an accomplishment!
