Degrees it was, in Fahrenheit, later that afternoon: 58

Ticks seen on my Sunday afternoon run: 1

External freak-outs due to tick sightings: 2

Internal freak-outs due to tick sightings: eleventy billion.

Number of hours in the classroom on Monday morning before reaching full sensory overload: 1.75

Number of breaths required to reregulate: all of them.

Number of kid smiles and hugs and connections that thankfully ensued throughout the rest of the day to keep me sane: 327, minus a few that were too boogery to accept.

After school hikes: 1

Ticks seen on our after school hike: more than 6, which is when I gave up counting because I was driving myself bonkers and because it’s depressing as hell that they’re out so early.

Sunsets seen from our hike: 1

Popcorn kernels consumed for dinner: an equalish half of the big tasty batch

Number of tired teachers in my house who are now filled back up enough to show up and give tomorrow another shot: 1
