Finding the good (#sol26 Day 4/31)

We’re having a dismal winter here in Colorado. Our snowpack is at record low numbers, our ski areas are hanging on to what’s left, and thoughts are turning to fears about what a dry summer could mean for our area.

Doom and gloom, I tell ya.

Given the state of the rest of THE ABSOLUTE HORRORS THINGS OUT THERE IN THE WORLD, it feels like we gotta dig deeper these days to find the good. Lucky for me, that habit (skill?) of beauty-seeking comes naturally.

Here’s what I found today:

  • Joyful giggles on the makeshift soccer field on the playground
  • The scent of the lavender oil in the diffuser in the classroom
  • The surprisingly helpful choices of generally self-contained first graders
  • The view of the clear sky through the woven branches of bare trees and bushes on the playground
  • The feeling of sunshine when it hit my legs on my run because I was wearing SHORTS on March 4th at almost 7500’
  • That magical pause of gravity, mid-handstand and mid-run on the bike path
  • Breakfast for dinner
  • The soft snuffle snores and the twitchy tootsies of the happy pooch curled up on the couch this evening
  • My happy heart at the end of this wild Tuesday

Hope you avoided most horrors and managed to find some beauty in your world today, too.

See ya tomorrow. ❤️

  1. Such a gift to be able to find the good in any situation! My parents live in Colordao (I grew up there in a small mountain town) and they said this is the strangest/warmest/least snowy winter ever. Nevertheless, it sounds like you had a great day today!
