Daylight Savings Time in my memory: Meticulously set the clocks around the house the night before. Don’t forget the alarm clock, the oven clock, the microwave clock, the car clock, and (yikes, good luck!) the VCR clock.
Daylight Savings Time today: Oh, yeah, that’s right. That’s today. Would you look at that?! My phone remembered all by itself. Sweet. Guess I’ll go change the car clock at some point in the next week, too.
Do you think there are “kids” out there who have no idea of the rituals we used to go through to update time?
No mas! For the rest of my life, I am advocating for no more DST!
Thank you for your post. π

Yes on all fronts! It was a nightmare. This morning I felt like I woke up to magic on my device. Must remind myself to reset my car, though.

Meh. Or leave it until itβs correct again. Your call. ππ

These kids today! When I was your age, I would have to set clocks ahead and behind while walking in snow!!

Daylight Savings is so useless! We are not longer a solely agrarian society, stay in your lane, Ben Franklin! I never bother with the clock on the microwave because it will be the correct time eventually. Kids today probably don’t even get the excellent Princess Bride reference.

Eventually! I love it. And…anyone who canβt drop or appreciate random Princess Bride quotes can go jump in a ROUS-infested forest.

I like leaving the car clock off- makes me think I’m early! What’s up with the VCR?

Good car trick! π I donβt quite understand your question, though. Like, what was up with how tricky they were to reprogram, or…?

Iβm sorry! I was being snarky about a VCR- I hope that wasnβt rude. Iβm all in on the Fire Stick and Netflix- I still have a few VCR tapes but no where to play them.

ππ No worries!!! I love some good snark, and Iβm totally with you. What was UP with that nonsense?! I think that I may still have one tape still lying around… Hunt For Red October. π€¦π»ββοΈ

Thatβs a classic! Love Connery and Baldwin in that film. Jack Ryan has been through so many versions- Affleck, Krasinki, Ford… almost as many different people as Batman!

Thanks for your humorous commentary on daylight savings time rituals. So true. I also like the use of the strikeout in your piece.

Thanks! Strikeouts are as close as I can sometimes come to replicating my snarky internal voice. π

This rings so true! I do remember those days and the previous comment about a VCR is so funny. Ours would generally be flashing because programming it took coding to a new level.
Keep writing!

Thanks! The flashing VCR often just got turned around so we wouldnβt have to look at it and feel inadequate. π

So true! I don’t think our kids can relate to this time change hassle as much as we can. I always wonder about those 2:30 am plans! Non-existent π

Iβm looking forward to the day I can command Siri or Alexa to change the car clock. Iβll get to it in a month or two, probably in time for the fall back in time!

This post is so true! I can remember the family event of changing each clock, and synchronizing the upstairs and downstairs clocks. Everyone had a responsibility. And of course, the VCR! That part hit home!

Yes! The doled out pieces of responsibility throughout the house – that was totally a part of the Time Change Ritual! Iβd forgotten about that. Thanks for the memories! β€οΈ
